Corneal Refractive Therapy (CRT)
- NO Glasses!
- NO Daytime Contacts Lenses!
- NO Surgery!
CRT is a FDA-approved non-surgical alternative to Lasik Surgery
to correct nearsightedness. It involves wearing
oxygen-breathing
contact lenses while you sleep to reshape the cornea. This results
in clear, natural vision upon removing the lenses each
morning.
This procedure has other names including orthokeratology, or
ortho-k.
Dr. Belill will use the Corneal Topographer to measure all angles
of the cornea to ensure the best fit of the CRT lenses and the
most
effective corneal reshaping.
Most patients notice improvement in vision within a few days, and
after wearing the lenses for 10-14 consecutive nights,
optimum
vision is reached. Temporary daytime contact lenses or glasses will
be worn during this vision transition period.
This therapy is reversible and vision will return to baseline as
soon as 72 hours after stopping nightly usage of the lenses.
The initial fee for CRT is all-encompassing, and includes: the
intial fitting, professional examination services, follow-up care,
and one
set of CRT lenses. After the first year, there is an annual
CRT consultation fee and the CRT lenses must be
replaced on average every
1-3 years.
